Environment
The members of the Environment Committee are typically the directors or managers of public works or environmental services, depending individual county structures. Counties have broad responsibilities for groundwater management and solid waste and landfill management, as well as invasive species programs and environmental law regulation and land use planning. Expertise on the Environment Committee is typically represented by the most senior level position in the county with responsibility for the majority of those functions and programs. The committee meets periodically throughout the year, but more regularly in the Fall and winter months in preparation or the legislative platform.
